This Disney movie is very recent with having only come out in March, 2016. As soon as it was on the big screens received numerous good reviews for not being a simple children's movie, but having more mature themes explained in a simple manner. It touched upon racism, discrimination and even speculations of what seemed to be drugs within the movie.
Personally you could see the main character Judy Hopps go through a lot of struggle before she's allowed to become the first every bunny to join the police as such anime are seen to be weak and unfit for a role and given that Judy is also a girl it only adds on to nobody supporting her. What's interesting is the fact that she's striving to get her dream job giving the message out to the audience that if you want to do something no one should be able to stop you.
When the second main character is introduced, a fox by the name of Nick Wilde the theme of discrimination is very clear as we see Judy being careful and almost scared around his, as well as the presence of a "fox repellent" that was given to her by her parents. This immediately suggest the panic that the others have about foxes and the preconceptions of them possibly being dangerous.
Another thing which stands out is the fact that in terms of real life problems such as discrimination being shown in the cartoon in the most simple format which gives the young audiences an understanding of the unfair reality of this world without being too harsh.
The most interesting aspect of this movie however is the fact that the most innocent sheep turns out to be the villain of the story therefore giving the cartoon an intriguing plot twist that I personally most certainly was not expecting.
